Mrs. Fletcher

We are thrilled to introduce Mrs. Rachel Fletcher as the new assistant principal at Fostoria Elementary School! Joining us from Bowling Green, Mrs. Fletcher brings enthusiasm and fresh perspectives to our administration team.  I had some time to ask Mrs. Fletcher some important questions to help the community get to know her.  Please enjoy our interview below.

What inspired you to pursue a career in education?

Once my daughters reached school age, I started volunteering more and more in their school, helping in the library, and serving on the PTO. It was during this time that I realized I wanted to be a teacher. I wanted to make an impact on the lives of students, to inspire them to learn, grow, and thrive. I knew that I had a unique perspective and set of skills to bring to the table, so I went back to school to pursue a career in education.

What was your educational background before becoming the assistant principal at Fostoria Elementary School?

I graduated from BGSU in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I went back to BGSU to earn my master's degree in Educational Leadership in 2022. Before coming to Fostoria, I was a 2nd grade teacher for Bowling Green City Schools for 10 years.

What about Fostoria City Schools made you want to be an administrator here?

I applied here to be an administrator because Fostoria is very similar to the building where I taught 2nd grade. The community has a diverse student body and a great amount of support in place for the students. Once I had my first interview and got the opportunity to meet some of the amazing staff I knew this would be a perfect fit for me.

What are you most looking forward to in the 2024-2025 school year?

This year I am most looking forward to meeting all of the students and families at FES. I also look forward to working with the staff to make our school a wonderful place to learn and grow.

Any personal information you would like to share with the community?

I live in Bowling Green with my husband and our 2 daughters. We also have 2 of the cutest French Bulldogs. I am a proud BGSU alumni, and I love Dolly Parton! In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and gardening.
