It is not too late for students to sign up for Drug Free Clubs of America at FJSHS. Membership is free! Students who join DFCA through Sentinel/Vanguard, can join at JSHS too. In the past we have done drawings for a laptop, air pods, gift cards, Cedar Point tickets, Walleye and Mud Hens tickets, RedZone items and more. Pizza parties and homework passes are a couple examples of in-school rewards, as well as treats on test days. There is a yearly scholarship contest and Seniors will receive graduation cords. Being a member can help toward graduation seals and looks good for college and job applications. Students also get other small DFCA related items like wristbands, popsockets, etc. This free program rewards students for simply living a drug -free lifestyle. Applications can be completed online; or paper applications can be picked up, and turned in, in the attendance office or from Mrs. Hinke in room 223. More information can be obtained online or through Mrs. Hinke.

For those parents/guardians that submitted shoe request forms for the 4EveryKid Shoe Program:
Shoes have arrived, they will be sorted and distributed soon. There were over 100 parent requests and more than 100 students to be matched with shoes, we are hoping to complete sorting as quickly as possible.
The amount of each shoe size available varies and we will do our best to connect each student requested with fitting shoes based upon the order that requests were received.
Once shoes are sorted we will get them to you and your student(s) in the method that is most convenient for you.
Thank you for your patience in this process. We are grateful to have been a part of this program and excited to get students their shoes.

Mrs. Masterson, the Library/Media Specialist at FJSHS recently hosted a "Blind Date with a Book" activity. Books were wrapped and included an excerpt from the text on the front. Classes discussed genres and how to select a book. Then, the students played musical chairs and would choose a book. This activity was designed to get students to select a book based on the text versus the book cover.

Why Attendance Matters -
There’s a very strong correlation between good attendance and success in school. On the other hand, students who regularly miss school are also more likely to struggle in school.
